Overview: Austrian Road Network

Austria's road network spans over 130,000 kilometres, including approximately 2,200 kilometres of motorways and expressways. The Asfinag (Autobahnen- und Schnellstraßen-Finanzierungs-Aktiengesellschaft) is responsible for planning, building, operating, maintaining and financing the high-ranking road network.

To use Austrian motorways and expressways, a valid vignette or section-specific toll payment is generally required. The vignette is available in various validity periods and can be purchased as a sticker vignette or digital vignette.

Our portal provides all relevant information on vignette prices, toll sections, tunnel fees, traffic regulations and current road conditions in Austria. We help you plan your journey optimally and avoid unpleasant surprises.

Austria is an important transit country in Europe. Millions of vehicles cross Austrian borders every year. Whether holiday travellers, commuters or transport companies – knowledge of Austrian road rules and toll regulations is essential for all road users.

The main Austrian motorways are: A1 (West Motorway), A2 (South Motorway), A4 (East Motorway), A9 (Pyhrn Motorway), A10 (Tauern Motorway), A12 (Inn Valley Motorway) and A13 (Brenner Motorway). Each of these routes has its own characteristics and sometimes additional toll fees.
